Sticker Crypt is the internet's premier source of free advice for artists and small business owners!

If you want to start selling stickers, but don't have any way to print them yourself, then you've got some choices to make! Luckily, there are plenty of people out there – like me – who research the best sticker companies so that you can focus on designing.

Custom stickers, most frequently die cut stickers, are big business. Starting your business is so easy nowadays. There are many on demand die cut sticker printing business options to choose from, with a wide variety of options and quality to choose from. Ultimately, your desired materials, shape, and quality will determine which sticker companies are the best choice to print your custom stickers with. Even if you do print your own, sometimes, you might want to outsource.

Best Value: CustomStickers.com

Compared to the big names, I'd argue that CustomStickers.com is by and far the best value. I've tested a few different materials from them, including shiny, matte, and holographic stickers. Each has been moderately easy to peel, very sturdy (thick) – and has held up to high contact surfaces like on my water bottle and laptop. If I were looking to outsource my sticker production, I'd go straight to these guys!

I was perhaps most impressed with their holographic stickers. An average order (~100 stickers) works out to $0.88 per 3″ sticker as of writing in 2022. As you likely know, holographic stickers are a huge upselling opportunity on Etsy and other platforms. You can sell holographic stickers at $6 or more and recoup your costs easily by just selling about 25% of your ordered stock. That puts you in the profit zone for stickers #26-100!

In addition to die cut stickers, CustomStickers also offers a custom sticker sheet, which can be a great way to get a variety of stickers in one sale. Their sticker sheets are made of the same great materials that their die cut single stickers are. All of their custom printed products are laminated to hold up against the elements OR against grubby fingers.

Sticker Mule is really winning the branding game out here, but that doesn't mean that they're the best value. That being said, they run sales which can make them very competitive compared to other sticker companies. Their most famous deal is 10 stickers for $1. At that point, they're basically paying you to take their stickers.

Sticker Mule's product quality is great. They feature die cut shapes, fast turnaround, and many different types of custom stickers like holographic options and more. They also offer more than just stickers – like packaging.

Sticker Mule isn't as well known for car stickers, but their printers are capable of making bumper stickers or larger. Remember though, the cost of a large custom sticker increases pretty quickly. This designer also features square stickers and sticker sheets, like most custom sticker companies.

Runner up: Sticker Guy

Sticker Guy might not be the biggest shop out there, but they've got a brand to remember. With a muted purple and bright orange contrast, they offer many of the same services as Sticker Mule, but in a lower key fashion.

Roll Labels and Round Stickers: Vista Print

For less fancy custom stickers, you should really shop around. Places like Vista Print aren't just for business cards – they can also print stickers. In some cases, they will be more affordable than the custom stickers that you're used to.

I use Vista Print mostly for business cards, but I have also ordered custom labels from them. Their adhesive stickers are strong and great for product applications, not just art.

Of course, best prices change from season to season, so be sure to price shop.

Runner up: Print Runner

I love the no-frills approach of Print Runner. They've done runs of backing cards and business cards for me. I've also ordered high quantity small stickers from them, and they've held up reasonably well. PrintRunner stickers are cheap, functional, and great for large quantities of free stickers for events. I'm not sure about their durability for high-contact uses, like in weather.

Print Runner is only worth it if your order qualifies for free shipping. Otherwise, they stick you with a pretty steep premium shipping option. Your sticker shop may benefit from Print Runner if you're working on high quantity items, like logo or thank you stickers.

Small Businesses: Dayton Sticker Co.

If you're looking to support a small business, then look right in your own backyard. There are many small businesses that will do sticker printing with a fast turnaround, preview of the final product and more. You'll get a personal relationship with the owner, and the ability to order smaller quantities.

We're biased, but we're recommending Dayton Sticker Co. We're in Dayton, we make stickers, and we ship worldwide.
